    Description

120 Real Natural Acorns Mixed Lot of 6 Types from California - Dried for Crafts!
These acorns come from a number of trees in southern California and were hand gathered off the ground in the fall and winter of 2021/22.  They were rinsed in plain water, air dried and any with obvious grub holes, nicks, or splits, were removed.  There are 6 types of acorns (20 of each) and sizes within each type vary, but a general size is shown for each type.  The below describe the acorns beginning in the upper left in the main picture and going clockwise.
California Black Oak (quercus kelloggii):  These are the largest ones - oblong shaped in a medium to light brown color with some "striping" along the sides and maybe some ivory-colored fuzz still attached.  These have a pointed tip at the bottom and a lighter brown spot on top where the cap was attached.  Their size is about 3/4 inch wide and 1 inch tall.
Pin Oak (quercus palustris):  These are the smaller roundish ones - similar to a hazelnut in size and color.  Their size is about 1/2 wide and 1/2 inch tall and medium to light brown in color with "striping" along the sides; some of these are a light gray in color.
California (Coast) Live Oak (quercus agrifolia):  These are long slender acorns in a medium to light brown color with a pointed tip and some "striping" along the sides.  Their size is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches tall and 1/2 inch wide; some of them have a slight curve.
Interior Live Oak (quercus wislizeni):  These are long slender acorns with a light brown color top and a darker bottom with a pointed tip and some "striping" along the sides on the darker brown section. Their size is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches tall and 3/8 inch wide.
Canyon Live Oak (quercus chrysolepis):  These are similar to both the California Live Oak and the Interior Live Oak but are more of an overall medium brown color and while still long and slender, they are more evenly rounded from top to bottom and less tapered to the bottom tip.
Scrub Oak (quercus berberidifolia):  These acorns are slightly elongated with a dark brown bottom and lighter brown top half.  Their size is about 1/2 inch wide and 3/4 inch tall and I detect a slight odor with these that isn't unpleasant and may disappear as they continue to age.
You will receive acorns similar to those shown in the pictures.  These are just acorns, no caps and they are excellent as bowl filler, decor or for use in many crafts.  These acorns are dried and not suitable for planting but may be useful as feed for some animals.  They come from a smoke-free environment and will be shipped together in one plastic bag in a cushioned envelope via USPS First Class Package.
