Cedar City sits directly on Interstate 15, between Las Vegas, Nevada and Salt Lake City, Utah.  Las Vegas is 170 miles southwest.  Salt Lake City is 250 miles north.  Cedar City is also about 50 miles north of St. George, Utah.

The roads are not paved long after exiting the main road. The pictures above are of the general area of the lot.  There are also pictures of Cedar City and plats of the lot.  The cell phone service is good on the way to and near the lot.

Brian Head Ski Resort
is 29 miles from Cedar City.  It is located in the heart of scenic southern Utah along Highway U-143.  The winter season generally begins mid November through mid April.  The summer mountain bike season is generally open late June through September.  For more information

It has the lowest lift ticket prices for a full service resort in all of Utah.  Brian Head has two mountains with terrain to fit almost any skier or boarder.   Navajo Mountain is completely dedicated to beginners and kids with a winter sports school, beginner terrain park and daycare in one convenient location.
Brian Head receives over 400 inches of powder every year.  The resort features Utah's highest base elevation of 9,600 feet with a lift served vertical drop of 1,320 feet from Brian Head Peak.  Brian Head has two new lifts and a skier bridge to connect Giant Steps and Navajo areas, allowing skiers and boarders to move freely between the two mountains.  The expansion has increased their terrain to over 650 acres, with eight chairlifts and 65 runs.  These mountains are also great for tubing and night skiing and boarding.
Bryce Canyon
is 79 miles from Cedar City.  It has 50 miles of hiking and nature trails throughout the park, horseback and mule rides into Bryce Amphitheatre, scenic 37 mile driveway, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  The canyon has intricate spires and formations, known as hoodoosre, with a wonderful view of the sunrise and sunset.   For more information 435-834-5322 or

Zion National Park
is 69 miles from Cedar City.  The canyons of Zion are all masterpieces sculpted from raw rock by the Virgin River.  While in the canyon you can hear the sound of roaring water down a spring waterfall.  There is hiking, Zion Human History Museum, and several canyons to explore.  For more information 435-772-3256 or

Cedar Breaks
is 21 miles from Cedar City.  It has a spectacular view of rainbow hued rock formations.  It has hundreds of miles of lush alpine forests and serene wildflower meadows.  There are hiking trails, snowmobiling and x-country skiing; but the best thing to see is in July, August and September when the meadows surrounding Cedar Breaks are full of wildflowers.  It is one of the best places in the country to see fall colors.  For more information 435-586-9451 or

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs
is 13 miles from Cedar City.  Wind, water and sand carved out this natural passageway that was once used as a major thoroughfare by ancient Native Americans.  The different cultures are evident by the hundreds of petroglyphs carved into the Gap.Solar and lunar calendars have been identified as well as hunting and cultural glyphs.

Utah Shakespeare Festival.
It is on the Campus of Southern Utah University which lasts from late June through October.

This is an area that in my opinion has a great upside.  Cedar City is big enough to have a Wal-Mart and everything you need but still small enough to have a cute, quaint feel.  You don't have to travel far to enjoy any and all types of outdoor activities.  There are mountain views and the weather is great!
